Cheapest Places to Get Sanitary Pads in Singapore

Being a lady can be pretty tough. Not only do we have to deal with Aunt Flo visiting for about a week every month, we also have to make sure that we’re well prepared for when she comes.

If you’re like me and use sanitary pads, it can actually get pretty expensive chalking up an average of every month on them alone. Think about it – if a girl menstruates for about 37 years of her life (approximately 13 years old – 50 years old), that’s about $2,220 spent just on sanitary pads!

This does not include the cost of panty liners, birth control pills, acne medication (for bad breakouts), heat pads/painkillers (for cramps), food (you know, for period cravings)…and the list goes on.

Good thing for you, we’ve got your back! To help you save some money, we’ve compiled a list of the cheapest places to get sanitary pads in Singapore(You’ll be surprised to know that Mustafa didn’t make the list!)

For a fairer comparison, we’ll be comparing the prices of 3 commonly used sanitary pads in varying sizes – Laurier Super Slimguard (22.5cm), Kotex Luxe (23cm), Whisper Ultraclean (24cm)

We also noted down their prices from NTUC so you have a rough idea of the average price in Singapore.

Laurier Super Slimguard (22.5cm): $6.45

Kotex Luxe (23cm): $5.95

Whisper Ultra Clean (24cm): $6.65

1. Swanston

Swanston is located above People’s Park Food Centre, and is well known for its competitive toiletries prices. This also means it can get pretty crowded so if you’re willing to squeeze a little to save a few bucks, Swanston is a good bet!

Laurier Super Slimguard (22.5cm): $2.60

Kotex Luxe (23cm): $5.10

Whisper Ultra Clean (24cm): $4.50

Address: #02-1004/7, 32 New Market Road Peoples Park Food Centre, Singapore 050032
Opening Hours: 10am – 9pm

2. Sunny Ocean Pte Ltd (Also known as Ocean Cosmetics)

Located in the same building and selling similar items, Sunny Ocean Pte Ltd (also known as Ocean Cosmetics) is definitely a direct competitor of Swanston. It is located on the 3rd floor of People’s Park Food Centre, and is said to be a little less crowded than Swanston. However, Swanston does have a slightly wider range of products so I guess you’ll have to weigh out the pros and cons for yourself!

Laurier Super Slimguard (22.5cm): $2.60

Kotex Luxe (23cm): $5.40

Whisper Ultra Clean (24cm): $4.40

Address: Blk 32 #03-1058/ 1060 New Market Road Peoples Park Food Centre
Singapore 050032
Opening Hours:
1130am – 9pm

3. ABC Bargain Centre

For a shop to proclaim so openly that they’d give you a refund on your item plus a free gift if you find any of their items cheaper somewhere else, that’s got to mean something.

They did not have the exact Kotex Luxe and Whisper Ultra Clean range, but we found something comparable.

Laurier Super Slimguard (22.5cm): $3.30

Kotex Soft and Smooth – Slim (23cm): $2.05

Whisper Wings (23cm): $3.95

Address: We went to the Ghim Moh outlet, but click here to find the outlet nearest to you!
Opening Hours: Varies

4. ValuDollar

I don’t know about you, but this was definitely my go-to place for cheap snacks after class when I was in secondary school! ValuDollar has a reputation for selling all kinds of grocery items for cheap, so it’s definitely not a surprise that this place made it to the list!

We didn’t get the chance to visit, but we’re sure that the prices are extremely competitive. (I mean, it’s owned by Radha Exports – the same people who own ABC Bargain Centre – and have you seen what they proclaim on their signboard?!) So, if you happen to visit one, let us know in the comments section below whether they’re even cheaper than the other stores we’ve listed here!

Address: Click here to find the outlet nearest to you!
Opening Hours: Varies

5. Any typical Mama Shop

Ah – the Mama Shop. It’s definitely familiar to many Singaporeans as the small but well-stocked convenience store at the foot of an HDB. Although there are fewer of them around, I’m sure you’ll still be able to find what you need from a good ol’ Mama shop!

Laurier Super Slimguard (22.5cm): approx $4.50

Kotex Luxe (23cm): approx $5.20

Whisper Ultra Clean (24cm): approx $4.50

Address: NIL
Opening Hours: Varies

Of course, prices of the pads may vary between outlets, so do take the prices we’ve listed above as a rough guide rather than the definite price. 🙂

P.S. Just in case you were wondering what the prices of the sanitary pads at Mustafa were and why they didn’t make the list:

Laurier Super Slimguard (22.5cm): $11.95 for 2

Kotex Luxe (23cm): $5.95

Whisper Ultra Clean (24cm): $5.95

Here’s a quick summary of the prices at these shops:

All that being said, this would only apply to you if you aren’t on the bandwagon yet for reusable sanitary products like menstrual cups and cloth pads. Honestly, those things save the most money  ’cause you can re-use them over long periods of time! (Menstrual cups costs around $50 and can last for about 10 years!)

For me, the thought of using a menstrual cup sounds daunting; But if you’re up for saving quite a bit of money in the long run, and don’t mind giving it a shot, check out our article on A Beginner’s Guide to Menstrual Cups for everything you need to know!
