#2: 15 & 16 Feb – Relay for Life

Relay for Life (RFL) is a global movement founded in May 1985 by the American Cancer Society in Tacoma, Washington. Through this event, the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) aims to bring the local community together to celebrate individuals who won the battle against cancer and remember those who lost despite the tough fight. It is also an excellent platform to recognise and support survivors, caregivers, and volunteers.

All cancer survivors at the event will join the first lap of the run, known as Survivor’s Lap, to celebrate their win against cancer. In the meantime, other participants would cheer them on and join them from the second lap. Roche Singapore has also pledged to donate $3 for every 1km covered. This money would then be donated to the cancer community.

#3: 22 Feb – Run for Light 2020

A streak of light that enters a pitch black tunnel brings about so much hope and emotions. Run for Life aims to be that streak of light in your life, bringing you hope and joy! Take part in the unique walk, where you get to experience walking 1km blindfolded. Else, there are other race categories (5km or 10km) for you to choose from.

#4: 23 Feb – Run for Hope

With cancer being more prevalent today, there are more individuals becoming victims of it. With the advancement of technology and development, the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) is still hopeful of making progressive breakthroughs. 

Together with Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, they will be coming together again to organise the annual Run For Hope (RFH) event to raise awareness and support for cancer research. 

Show your support and make a difference to the cancer patients and their families by taking part in this meaningful 3.5km or 10km run, or by making a donation.

#5: 5 Feb – Spoke & Bird: Photos, Voices, Verses

Photos, Voices, Verses, is a special fundraising poetry-photography event presented by Spoke & Bird Poetry in support of Project X. Project X is a non-profit organisation that provides social, emotional and health services to people in the sex industry. Current and former sex workers alongside passionate volunteers would provide them with counselling session and practical advice especially in cases of abuse. 

This project would feature Deborah Emmanuel, Melizarani T. Selva, Shivram Gopinath and Will Beale’s poets alongside photographs by 4 sex workers. The project aims to reclaim narratives of sex workers that have been long foregrounded for the punishing obsession with women’s sex lives and their moral worth.

#6: 28 & 29 Feb – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 

ATTENTION ALL HARRY POTTER FANS!

Esplanade Theatre will be presenting to you the fourth installment of the Harry Potter film concert, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. 

In this concert, the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra will be performing this magical score live while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen. This sequel talks about Harry mysteriously entering the Triwizard Tournament only to find himself in Lord Voldemort’s grasp. However, things changed when Harry, Ron, and Hermione left their childhood forever and faced challenges beyond their imagination.

#7: 28 & 29 Feb – SPLIT

The Middleground Project (TMGP) is a Singaporean based Community Production Company. They strive to work on projects to share relatable and provoking stories such as Mental Health issues and Family Relations. 

This time, they will be bringing to us SPLIT, a double-bill performance. Starting off with Falling Apart, it talks about how we, humans, are causing the world to fall apart by harming ourselves, others and the environment. The performance would be followed up by Hazel Harmony, a sequel to (ME)ntal 2018, Hazel. This time, Hazel has gone to seek help as told but she still doesn’t see anything wrong with herself. This story would focus heavily on Hazel’s thoughts, be prepared to get to know her on a very personal level.

#8: 29 Feb – Yiruma Live 

Everyone who listens to classical music or learns the piano will know who he is! Yiruma, the performer-composer, will be returning to Singapore with his signature “River Flows in You” and “Kiss the Rain” since 2014.

Apart from his classics, Yiruma has collaborated with numerous K-Pop artists and composed contemporary music. To date, he has reached over 400 million views on YouTube and performed successfully across the world! Prep yourself for an unforgettable night!

Garden Beats Festival is an experiential festival for music, arts, and nature. Nature is a big aspect of the festival as they aim to promote a greener lifestyle and eco-friendliness. In 2018, Garden Beats Festival became the first carbon-neutral music festival in Singapore, and they aim to be a zero-plastic festival in years to come.

#17: 16 Jan to 9 Feb – Asian Night Market

As many Taiwan bubble tea brands step foot into Singapore, now it’s time for some AUTHENTIC Taiwan snacks! Taiwan’s popular night market, Ningxia Night Market (宁夏夜市), will be recreated across Siloso point to Siloso Beach! 

Be spoilt with choices as to what to savour upon as there will be over 100 stores with 30 food vendors who will be flying over from Taiwan! Some must-try dishes would be the Flaming Beef Cubes (火焰骨子牛肉), Grilled King Oyster Mushroom (烤杏苞菇), Beef Noodles (牛肉面) and Oyster Mee Sua (蚵仔面线).
